Women of the Three Rivers Red Tent

Return to Directory
Women of the Three Rivers Red Tent
Location: England, North-East England, United Kingdom
Name of your Red Tent: Women of the Three Rivers Red Tent
Where in your country are you: North East England
Where do your Red Tents meet: Usually in Shildon, County Durham
When do you meet: Each month on the New Moon
What do you do in your Red Tents:

We meet 2pm until 10pm – we have a loose structure for the day,
leaving plenty of space for what might want to emerge.
Women are invited to come in the morning to set up the space if they
can. You are welcome to come for the whole time, or drop in or out as
you are able.
We open sacred space at 2.30pm – the afternoon is given over to
whatever a woman needs for herself at that time eg. reading, chatting,
crafting, journalling, healing, sleeping, etc At 5pm we eat together
(we each bring food) then from 6.30pm we enter the red tent space to
continue sharing. Sometimes we have a theme to prompt us or it can be
free flowing. We talk in circle, honour one another and the divine
feminine and we may sing, chant, drum, dance.
We close the circle around 9.45 and we dismantle the space together as
part of the whole experience. We have met indoors to date, now we have
a wonderful red canvas tent, which will enable us to hold some outdoor
gatherings.

Do you ask participants to bring anything, wear red or make a donation?: You are invited to wear red, and bring whatever you need to be
comfortable, including your slippers! An email is sent prior to each
red tent and any requests to bring anything are included in it.
Donations are welcome but not obligatory.
What language is spoken in your Red Tent?: Womanspeak and English

What does a Red Tent mean to you?

Red tents are a safe place where I can share my story, my truths and hurts without judgement and competition that is so often present in female work-based and other groups. This enables me to get to know and accept my own vulnerability and negative emotions, and thereby, leave them gradually behind. The stories and support of other women inspire me and give me motivation for the whole month ahead.
