Tente Rouge de Paris

Return to Directory
Tente Rouge de Paris
Location: France
Name of your Red Tent: Tente Rouge de Paris
Where in your country are you: Paris, France
Where do your Red Tents meet: We move every month, and go to the flat of a woman from the community. Therefore, the energy of the Red Tent is different, even before any woman enters the space. Women coming to the Red Tent are from France, and some of them from Belgium – but the RT is hosted always in Paris. We also organized a week end in the country (Normandy), and found a very beautiful place there to hold our Tent.
When do you meet: e meet the night of the New Moon, whatever day of the week it is. If it’s a Saturday or a Sunday, we are used to spend the entire day together (from 10 am to 6 pm). If it’s a week day, we meet from 7 pm to 10 pm.
What do you do in your Red Tents:

We all gather and close the door to the outer world by taking off the shoes and drinking tea. Then rituals can start, with the candle lit, and we first check in. If it’s a weekday RT, we all have some time to share what we want with the women – it’s mostly a speaking time, but we can also ask for physical holding, for silence, for a massage or for a moment of dance. It’s “the” time of the woman, so she can use it in the way she needs it. At the end, we all check out and close the circle. If it’s a weekend RT, we also have a moment of creativity. We usually listen to some music and craft – whether all together or individually.

Do you ask participants to bring anything, wear red or make a donation?: We ask women to wear red if they want to, and most women do it. They are asked to bring something for the center of the circle, that symbolizes something for them (it is just there, and they don’t necessarily speak about it). When we spend the day together, they are asked to bring some food to share. Until now, we haven’t asked for donation.
What are your contact details:

If a woman is interested, she can send a mail to tenterougedeparis@gmail.com. She will be added to the mailing list and receive information. We also are on facebook “Tente Rouge de Paris”.

What does a Red Tent mean to you?

“Red Tents are safe spaces for women to find their power, speak their truth and get support so they can be forces for love and light in the world”

— Julie
