Red Tent OV Norfolk

Red Tent OV main image
Location: USA
Name of your Red Tent: Red Tent OV Norfolk
Where in your country are you: Norfolk
Where do your Red Tents meet: 139 East Randall Avenue, Norfolk VA 23503
When do you meet: Sundays 5-8 around New Moon
What do you do in your Red Tents:

We start with connection and greeting, then lighting the candle together and our opening songs. We share a bit about what is happening in each person’s life and then move into some more songs. There is always a main topic talk and some smaller journal exercises.

One main dish is served with lots of potluck, we try to keep it mostly vegan, but women are encouraged to bring comfort foods.

The Tent goes up in the main living room the night prior or in the morning. Space begins to be consecrated. The home gets a thorough New Moon cleansing so we are on a fresh start for company and for the newness we are bringing in.

We do a break after an hour, but women can get up and move freely at any time. Then we do break out for dinner and or smaller activities, such as crafting, journaling and or just a wise woman heart to heart.

During good weather, we have fire circle from time to time and are increasing our tent as we progress only through donations, towards an outdoor tent as well.

The whole house is open for women, even napping space.

We come back for meditation and closing thoughts and release the circle with song again. The walk is always lit on the way up with candles, and its a beautiful space, the neighbors are supportive and just generally great about everything.

Red Tent, is about wise women rising, in self care and so too in power. We give where we choose, and are responsible, first for ourselves. A full cup, always fills more.

Do you ask participants to bring anything, wear red or make a donation?: Healthy and comfort based food. Chocolate, sweets etc are allowed, we understand only we KNOW what we need.

Donations are recommended to 5 dollars. Special events and or services, will be up to the person offering. So far we have only been donation.
What language is spoken in your Red Tent?: English, however, I do teach Lakota language words as part of our moon knowledge, as I am more steeped in Lakota spirituality. I am originally from the mid-west.
