Newcastle Moon Time Space
I have been introduced last year to the Red Tent movement while I was taking part in the Women’s Yoga course. I fell in love with the idea of creating a space for women where we could talk and do not feel judged, where we can be vulnerable, where we can express ourselves through creativity and art, where we could meditate and reflect together.
Most importantly, where we could talk about us women, to create a community where a woman of any age can join us to share and exchange knowledge about our bodies, energies and needs. When I was a teenager I had struggled with PMS and felt lonely as I did not have anyone to talk about this. It took me many years to get to know my body and how can I help myself. That is also why I want to create the space for ladies to come together to be a sister, mother or grandmother who can offer support when needed in a moment of grief, loss, miscarriage, menarche, menopause and many more.
I have spoken to many ladies who are in such need of this kind of space. A lot of them do not feel supported or understood by their partners. I felt the call a long time ago to be a part of a sisterhood. Unfortunately, there is none in my area, so I have decided to create this.
What I am doing right now is practising New Moon and Full Moon ceremonies. Using journaling prompts helps me to reflect and rethink the way I live. I would usually do a card reading and a bit of movements like dance or yoga to release any tension.
