Lu Everett-Lindsay – Communications Lead
1. What do Red Tents mean to you?
These precious spaces represent a source of comfort, rebellion and sanctuary to me. I want every woman everywhere to have access to a Tent and the sense of comfort that can come from the simple, defiant act of sitting to be seen and heard without judgment or expectation. A place where we can meet our own needs and come together in equity.
2. What do you do in Red Tent Directory?
I’m delighted to be the new Communications Lead for Red Tent Directory UK. I have the privilege of producing the monthly newsletter, liaising with contributors and shaping themes alongside the community. The prospect of learning from this wonderful community is massively exciting; I look forward to the magic unfolding.
3. How do Red Tents inform your wider work and life?
The potential for healing within circle structures inspires me; the fact that through simply sharing our own honest and unique stories, and listening to others, we can evolve and learn… that seems like a gloriously simple and powerful experience. Having been on a long journey to stepping into women-only spaces, I’ve found deep wells of solidarity and care within circles. Having begun my own small Red Tent group, I can sense this becoming a vital point of anchor in my life. What a gift.
4. If you had to describe yourself as a plant, mineral or animal what would it be and why?
Maybe salt? I love the bliss to be found in everyday pleasures, and am also obsessed with food and cooking, so salt comes to mind as fitting well in that category. The simplicity and power of salt to transform is fascinating. A little like the experience of a Red Tent, salt can be deceptively simple and hugely rewarding… I’ll take a pinch of that, thanks.
